Case Study
Objective
Create a minimalist, curated Instagram-based visual portfolio that showcases my best photographic work while also serving as a personal archive. The goal is to build a clean, cohesive gallery that reflects my visual style, strengthens my creative identity, and provides an accessible medium for presenting my portfolio to others.
Process
The creation of shinematic began with the need for a dedicated space to organize and display my strongest photos in a consistent and intentional way. I started by reviewing my existing photography collection, identifying recurring themes and visual characteristics that defined my style—such as light tones, minimal compositions, and natural color grading.
From there, I developed a posting framework that focused on curation: selecting only high-quality images, ensuring stylistic coherence, and refining edits to match the tone. I also researched visual portfolio practices across Instagram to understand how creators build galleries that feel both personal and professional.
Over time, I iterated on layout, tone, and visual rhythm, experimenting with sequencing, whitespace, and subtle signature elements. This process helped establish shinematic as both a functional portfolio and an evolving creative archive.
Outcome
Shinematic helped strengthen my ability to curate visual content, maintain consistency in aesthetic direction, and present work in a minimalist, gallery-like format. The project reinforced foundational skills in composition, color grading, and visual storytelling, while also teaching me how to craft a cohesive portfolio experience within the constraints of a social media platform.
It now functions as an accessible, fast-to-view portfolio for others, complementing more structured platforms.
